PURABYK-R 5500

PURABYK-R 5500 is a rheology additive based on synthetic phyllosilicate for aqueous systems. It forms shear-thinning thixotropic hydrogels from solutions of hypochlorous acid (HClO). PURABYK-R5500 provides benefits for applications requiring controlled viscosity and suspension properties. It can be added directly as a powder without pre-mixing with water if the solution contains up to 2% NaCl. If the NaCl content is above 2%, it must be pre-mixed with ultrapure water before adding to the solution. It should be added continuously and gradually over 10-20 minutes at 20°C ± 5°C, stirring fast enough to avoid clumps. The gel structure forms depending on salt content and quantity of PURABYK-R 5500 incorporated. It is especially suitable for applications requiring controlled viscosity and suspension properties.
